About this Event
The natural world has long been the inspiration of artists, from famous painters like Monet and Gauguin to local ones such as Georgette Chen and Sarkasi Said. Fashion is no exception, with traditional designs like batik and ikat and contemporary popular and haute couture styles all taking a leaf from nature.
Join Asher Mak as he explores the use of nature in art and contemporary fashion. You will also create your own fashion looks inspired by local flora and fauna, and the National Library’s collection of art and natural history illustrations.
You can bring along your favourite art materials or drawing tablets, or use the markers and watercolours provided.
About the Speaker
Asher Mak graduated in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2009. He has worked with NAFA, SJI, and NJC, and set up International Baccalaureate, Visual Arts in Sapporo, Japan. He hopes to encourage local artists to look beyond the shores of Singapore for inspiration.
