About this Event

Join guest artist Tomoyo Ihaya for a hands-on exploration of lift-drawing, a unique ink transfer technique on delicate hand-made Japanese papers. Transform your experimental drawings into a layered mixed-media collage using a variety of papers and water-based pigments.

No prior experience needed, just come ready to experiment and play.

Limited seating, 15 participants max. For ages 16+

Cost: $5.00 includes all art supplies.

About the Artist:

Tomoyo Ihaya was born in Tsu-City, Mie, Japan and is based in Vancouver, Canada. She is a permanent resident of Canada since 2000. Her mixed-media works have been featured in solo and two-person shows in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, India, Canada, and the United States. She has also participated in artist residencies in many of these places and has been awarded numerous grants from the Canada Council and the British Columbia Arts Council. Her work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Ihaya holds a BA from Rikkyo University, Tokyo, and an MFA from the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
