Cajun Outsider Artists Anne Guillot, Abby Guillory, and Bob Borel set up at the Roy House for Second Saturday Artwalk in May.
Anne Guillot's gallery exhibit and artist talk "Bayou Bathers: NuTêche" reveals the inspiration behind the St. Martinville native's series of bathing female figures.
Abby Guillory of Feral Pine Prints hosts a ‘zine workshop in the UL Press Bookshop.
We're thrilled that everyone's favorite Unflattering Abstract Portrait artist Bob Borel has agreed to set up at the Roy House for the May Art Walk.
Anne's talk begins at 7 p.m., but you're welcome to pop in at any point in the evening to see her work and chat with our guest artists.
Anne is a Cajun-Creole multimedia artist from St. Martinville, Louisiana who currently resides in New Orleans. Her work includes visual references to folkloric, hyper-local, collective mythologies with a specific focus on the natural, mundane and lived realities present at the intersections and boundaries.
She investigates ideas and experiences related to unspoken facts or revised histories that often remain as faint traces between the living and their senses. Visiting us as familiar repetitions, coincidences, reminders, pauses, at the edges of perception, compelling our experience in the present.
