There are no skills required for this workshop, if you have never picked up a brush, felt charcoal on your hands or used any paint materials this workshop is for you! All skill sets are welcome and Fariha is here to guide you through creating something just for you that you will love!

Workshop 1: Charcoal – Expressive & Bold

• Introduction to charcoal techniques (shading, blending, hatching)

• Understanding light and shadow

• Creating dynamic compositions with contrast

• Final project: Dramatic still life or portrait

Workshop 2: Pastels – Vibrant & Soft

• Exploring soft and oil pastels

• Layering, blending, and color mixing

• Creating depth and texture in landscapes and portraits

• Final project: Atmospheric pastel artwork

Workshop 3: Watercolour – Fluid & Delicate

• Understanding watercolour properties and washes

• Wet-on-wet vs. wet-on-dry techniques

• Layering and transparency for depth

• Final project: Nature-inspired or abstract piece

Workshop 4: Acrylic – Bold & Versatile

• Basics of acrylic painting (brushwork, layering, textures)

• Mixing colors and creating depth

• Exploring different styles (impasto, glazing)

• Final project: Expressive acrylic painting

Fariha Rehman is a passionate artist from Pakistan, specializing in the traditional art of miniature painting. She graduated in this intricate and historic art form from Lahore and has shared her expertise by teaching drawing and miniature painting. For the past three years, she has been dedicated to working with people with disabilities, using art as a powerful tool for expression, relaxation, and healing. Fariha believes in the transformative and cathartic power of creativity, helping individuals recharge and find joy through artistic exploration.

Our venue is located behind Chatsworth Flowers at 90 Beaufort St Perth and sadly is not wheelchair accessible, if you have accessibility requirements please email us at [email protected] and we will do our best to accomodate you.

Street Parking is available at the front of the venue and is free after 6pm.

Light refreshments will be available and you are welcome to bring some snacks to share.
