About this Event
Looking for a safe space to express yourself and get artsy? Join a trained art therapist at one of our upcoming workshops. Each month, you will be guided through a creative activity designed to help you process difficult emotions, gain confidence, and learn mindful self-care techniques. Stop by on one or all of these dates:
Saturday, January 17th, from 3pm to 4pm with Marissa
Saturday, February 21nd, from 3pm to 4pm with Mohamed
Saturday, March 21st, from 3pm to 4pm with Marissa
Saturday, April 18th, from 3pm to 4pm with Mohamed
In a supportive and inclusive environment for adults only, participants will engage in a variety of art-making experiences that include jewelry making, collage, painting, and drawing with colored pencils and markers.
This is NOT a ticketed event. Spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seats in these workshops are limited to the first 20 attendees. Make sure to arrive early so you can secure a place! All supplies are provided.

About our instructors:
Marissa is currently enrolled in the MA program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy at Wayne State University. She received her Associate of Science degree from Mott Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology with a minor in Studio Art from the University of Michigan-Flint. She has previously worked with youth in the foster care and juvenile justice system as a program support from 2015-2021. She also has previous experience working with clients at the Mental Health and Wellness Clinic at Wayne State University as a counselor-in-training, and she is currently doing an internship at Willow's Edge Counseling and Healing Arts Center. Her approach is integrative, with Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Art Therapy techniques. She has experience with: Children, Adolescents, Adults, Group Art Therapy, Anxiety, Stress Management, General Support, Depression, Anger Management, Trauma, Grief & Loss, Life Transitions, Substance Use, and Developmental Disabilities.
Mohamed is a recent graduate from Wayne State who pursued a Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Art Therapy. With a Limited License in counseling awaiting provisional license in Art Therapy. Mohamed is a current visual artist using paint, collage, digital media and jewelry to visualize internal discourse, feelings, and manifestations.
