Terrence Spivey is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, is a distinguished theater leader with a legacy of groundbreaking work. Spivey is former artistic director of Karamu House, the oldest black theatre in the country. He serves as the founding director of Powerful Long Ladder Ensemble in Cleveland, OH, and an associate with All Things Africatown in Mobile, Alabama.
His most recent project was An Ocean in My Bones, a poignant play about the Clotilda, the last known slave ship to bring enslaved Africans to the United States. It was in collaboration with Clotilda Descendants Association.
He recipient of Color of Change Preserving Truth in Education Award and recently selected a 2024 Roe Green Visiting Voice Ambassador by the Dramatists Guild Foundation.
Through his work, Spivey continues to amplify voices and narratives that demand to be heard.
