A listening session where we slow down, gather around, and share the stories behind the records that shaped us.
About this Event

We’re reclaiming the art of paying attention.

In a world that moves too fast, we’re pressing pause. We’re gathering 20 music lovers for a slow-down session centered around the records that shaped us.

This isn't just about the music; it’s about the "why." Whether it’s the album that got you through a breakup, a hand-me-down from your parents, or a hidden gem you found in a dusty crate—we want to hear the story behind the record.

The Experience Flow
  • Part 1: The Collective Deep Dive (45 Mins)
At 8:00 PM sharp, the doors lock. We sink into total, uninterrupted listening with (CK). We will spin legendary records pressed right here on our shores, celebrating music that is uniquely Singapore’s. Our journey spans from the iconic 1960s Pop Yeh Yeh era—where local guitar bands fused Western rock with Malay melodies—all the way to the contemporary indie and future sounds of today. As the music plays, we will pass these historic, homegrown vinyl sleeves around the room, experiencing our national sonic identity together.
  • Part 2: The Community Platter & Stories (60 Mins)
The doors reopen at 8:45 PM, and the floor belongs to you. Keeping strictly to our "Made in Singapore" theme, we invite you to bring a record by a Singaporean artist or a pressing with local roots. Whether it’s a vintage 60s/70s gem, a classic Xinyao track, or a modern release by a homegrown creator—we’ll play your record on our platter and share the personal stories behind the Singaporean music we love.
  • Part 3: The Open Q&A & Hangout (15 Mins)
We close the night with an open discussion. We'll trade local music discoveries, talk about how Singapore's sound has evolved from the 1960s to now, and connect with fellow music lovers over a shared pride in homegrown talent and physical media.

The Theme: Made in Singapore
Every great city has a heartbeat. For our next edition of ART/ST Analog Club, we are hosting a session centered entirely around music made right here in Singapore.

We’ll be exploring the unique sounds that define our local music heritage. Our sonic journey spans from the electrifying 1960s Pop Yeh Yeh era—where local bands famously fused Western rock 'n' roll with Malay melodies—to the nostalgic, poetic strings of Xinyao (新谣) that captured the coming-of-age of a generation. From there, we'll trace the line all the way to the indie anthems and contemporary sounds of today. This session is a deep dive into genuine Singaporean pressings, homegrown talent, and the genres that belong uniquely to us.

This is not a casual background-music hangout. This is a communal, deep-listening sanctuary. We are gathering a tight circle of 20 music lovers, locking the doors, and spending 90 minutes rediscovering the magic, warmth, and soul of analog hardware through the lens of our own local music history.

  • Ears Open, Phones Down: We listen in silence once the needle drops.
  • Bring Your Stories: If you have a homegrown Singaporean record (33/45 RPM) with a personal story or memory attached to it, bring it along to share with the circle.

Guest Speaker =

CK is a music lover on a mission to keep analog alive. Famously known in the vinyl community for his dream L-shaped record shelves (complete with a sliding library ladder!), CK views his massive collection as a timeline of life's best memories. Whether he's spinning rare grooves or talking setup tech, his goal is to share the magic, warmth, and ritual of physical music.

The House Rules

To preserve the focus of the session, we ask all attendees to honor our three pillars:

  1. Handle Records with Care: Respect the physical medium, whether it’s yours or not.
  2. Listen Actively: This is a phone-down, ears-open space. We listen in silence once the needle drops.
  3. Embrace the Discovery: Be open to sounds and stories outside your usual rotation.

What to Bring
  • Your Ears: Bringing a record is not required—everyone is welcome to simply join the circle and listen.
  • A Record (Optional): If you have a record (33/45/78 RPM) with a personal story you'd like to share, bring it along! Number tags for sharing slots are issued on a first-come basis at the door.
  • Your Presence: Please silence all mobile devices upon entry to maintain the active listening environment.
