About this Event
Are you a collector of precious things? Taking our time to wonder at the unique beauty of objects in the landscape connects us to the natural environment and reminds us to slow down.
In this workshop, Siân Boucherd will show you new ways to make use of the special shell you found on holiday, or the beautiful feather you spotted in the grass while playing at the park. Learn how to make a necklace or charm by twining your trinkets into handmade string using an ancient basketry technique and an array of hand-dyed natural fibres.
Dates

About Siân Boucherd
Siân Boucherd was born in rural Western Australia and now lives in Walyalup (Fremantle). After finishing an Art and Design Degree in 2007, Boucherd worked as a curator in London in both gallery contexts and in the natural environment. On returning to Australia in 2012, she started working on her studio practice again, exploring an interest in nature by making woven works.
Through the use of natural fibres such as sisal, jute and wool, Siân creates meticulously hand-crafted vessels using a coiling basketry technique. She is inspired by the architecture of nature; formations such as pods, nests, cocoons and the unique striations that make up Western Australia’s ancient geology.
