About this Event
📍 September 28, 2025 – El Paso, Texas
I’ll be in El Paso this September for a focused, one-day workshop exploring one of the most subtle and powerful forms of portraiture — the art nude. This isn’t a shootout or a portfolio-stuffing free-for-all. It’s a space for serious artists to study the human form, the role of light, and the quiet strength of simplicity.
We’ll be working in-studio with controlled setups — not just placing lights, but sculpting with them. Whether we’re chasing soft, painterly shadows or crisp, high-contrast edge lighting, every choice we make will serve a purpose. You’ll see exactly how I use light to shape emotion, tension, and story — and how to adapt those methods to your own voice.
But lighting is only half of it. We’ll also dig into how I approach direction, pacing, and trust when working with a subject in this vulnerable genre. How posture, micro-movements, and tone elevate a photograph — and how to guide those moments with sensitivity and clarity.
Art nude work goes way beyond nudity — it’s about restraint, composition, intention, and respect. If you’ve been curious about leveling up your studio work in this genre, this is your opportunity to get hands-on guidance in a safe, honest, and creatively open environment.
Limited spots, as always. Come out to ELP and let’s build something worth remembering.

Lighting Approaches Workshsop
Host: Nino Batista
Info: Light is integral to how a mood is conveyed in a portrait, and how you complement or contrast it is something Nino loves to explore. He will review several lighting setups, and crucially, will explain *why* he lights the way he does, covering the philosophy and vision behind using light in intimate portraiture. Mixing and matching strobes with ambient, and the willingness to improvise with excitement, not disappointment. This is hands-on as well, so be sure to bring your camera and favorite lenses. **All scheduled times are subject to small changes, and all attendees will be emailed if any changes occur**
