About this Event

The Art in Glasgow short film programme is made up of both archive films that reference cultural spaces on and around Sauchiehall Street, and contemporary artist films. The archive film material is made up of The Glasgow School of Art (1957) by Eddie McConnell which documents GSA by students of the time. This silent short film will be screened with a soundtrack provided by existing material from musician duo Tommy Perman (Surface Pressure) and Andrew Wasylyk. Also screening is an archive STV documentary film on the artist John Byrne from 1975. Viewers will get insight into Byrne's work with Gerry Rafferty and Billy Connolly, his beginnings at Glasgow School of Art, forays into public art in Partick, and his solo show that took place at The Third Eye Centre which opened in that year, curated by Tom McGrath.

The film programme is been curated by Morvern Cunningham and Stuck? Collective.

This screening is a part of the Sitting with the Stars, organised by the Sauchiehall Street: Culture and Heritage District in partnership with Stuck? Collective, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Places.
