American artist John Kearney commissioned and installed the SAA Bison sculpture in the courtyard of the Springfield Art Association in 1975. Made from recycled chrome car bumpers, this sculpture has become an iconic representation of our organization and the Enos Park neighborhood. Discover Kearney's fascinating journey as an artist, which began with his underwater welding career in the Navy and evolved into a lifetime dedicated to creating larger-than-life sculptures in any material Kearney could get his hands on.
