Art for Healing Class - August: Phoenix Rising

The phoenix of myth rises in a blaze of glory. Ours rises differently. A year and a half in, we've all seen it somewhere — a wildflower in the crack of a foundation, green pushing through a scarred trunk, the first porch light back on a dark street. In this session, each artist paints their own phoenix: the small, stubborn image of rising that has stayed with them. There's no single subject and no single style — only the shared idea of something alive holding its ground where it shouldn't be able to. We explore contrast and focus: how to make one small burst of color and life carry all the light in the frame. Because that's what rising looks like now. Not wings and fire — but the quiet, defiant things that keep showing up, exactly where they decided to grow.
