Explore the magic of monotypes and monoprints in this one-day workshop appropriate for experienced printmakers as well as complete beginners. Monoprints are one-of-a-kind printed images created with some form of repeatable matrix, such as a stamp, carved woodblock, or etched metal plate. Monotypes are also one of a kind, but the images are usually painted or drawn onto a smooth surface such as Plexiglas before being printed onto paper. Use color, form, materials, tools, intuition, and intention to layer and design unique compositions with surprising results. Taught by artist and educator Mary Robinson. Ages 15 and up. All supplies and equipment provided. $175 / $140 for members. Priority registration for members only through Wednesday, August 20.
Mary Robinson is a printmaker and mixed-media artist based in Columbia, SC. She was a professor and coordinator of printmaking at the University of South Carolina from 2003 to 2025. Her work is represented by Mike Brown Contemporary in Columbia and Spalding Nix Fine Arts in Atlanta.
