About this Event

Sunia Gibbs, Lead Pastor of The Groves Church & Krispin Mayfield, LPC and author of 'Attached to God'

Our brain processes relationships through images & metaphor, so finding a healing way to relate to God often comes not through words alone, but a deeper engagement with the part of our minds that long for true welcome, inclusive love, liberation, and justice.

The evening will be an invitation to engage viscerally with your attachment experience of God, by playing with color, shape and texture through painting together (even if you’ve never painted before!).

First, Krispin will share how the toxic images we’ve been given of God impact how we relate to God, causing us psychological harm and infecting our communities on a systems level, followed by ways to engage in life-giving avenues of relating to God. Then, Sunia will break out the art supplies and lead us in creating personal images that reflect the harmful AND healing images of God we’ve been given.
