About this Event
Art as Refuge / Arte como Refugio is a screening and open conversation presented by Casa de Artesanos in collaboration with Garúa Media, as part of the exhibition Voces Inocentes / Innocent Voices.
During this gathering, we will listen to the voices of three women from Colombia and reflect on how art can become a refuge, a language, and a space for memory, dignity, care, and transformation.
This event invites the community to gather around stories of creative resistance, healing relationships with art, and the ways cultural expression can help us name pain, preserve dignity, and imagine new forms of connection.
After the screening, we will open a conversation with invited guests and community members.
Invited voices from Colombia:
Alicia Duque — watercolor artist
Melissa Corredor — law student and co-founder of Paulas por la Libertad
Paleja Salguero — artist and co-founder of Paulas por la Libertad
Conversation accompanied by:
Diego Garrido — Artist & Rev.
Julieth Cabral — artist, founder of Casa de Artesanos, and curator of Voces Inocentes
Gia Mar — Miss Latina Elegancia USA
This event is part of Voces Inocentes / Innocent Voices, an exhibition centered on art, memory, human dignity, and the voices that have too often been silenced.
All are welcome.
