Come to our weekend of Art and Resistance, where we will explore how art can be used to resist oppression and as a way of coping with its trauma. There will be art displays by Bristol Refugee Artists Collective, and Maisara Baroud, an Artist who has drawn a picture every day since the start of the attack on Gaza where he has lost his home and studio and has been displaced 14 times.
Films and talks about the struggles faced by refugees, indigenous people and people in Palestine.
Workshops on Palestinian embroidery, badge making and more.
Stalls to find out more about refugee organisations, Palestine Solidarity and indigenous peoples struggles.
Open Mic for resistance poetry and music.
Cafe offering a selection of food and drinks from different countries.
Proceeds will go to:
Bristol Hospitality Network which works alongside people seeking asylum who are facing destitution in Bristol. They source hosted accommodation and support creative community engagement across the city. Founded in 2009, BHN has supported hundreds of individuals in need and continues to provide life-changing solutions to people seeking safety in Bristol. https://www.bhn.org.uk/
And, Hebron International Resource Network offers responsive and targeted support to some of the most threatened and marginalised Palestinian communities and individuals.
