Join us as we celebrate Dia de los Muertes. HumanKind is thrilled to feature the bold illustrations of Helen Yanez that are a tribute to her Mexican heritage and the vibrant aspects of Latino and Mexican culture.
ARTIST:
Helen Yanez is a distinguished freelance illustrator. Originally from Michoacán, Mexico, Yanez relocated to the Central Coast of California at the age of twelve. Her artistic oeuvre serves as a heartfelt homage to her heritage, focusing on the vibrant aspects of Latino and Mexican culture. Through her illustrations, she celebrates the richness of this culture, capturing everything from
traditional foods and significant locales to influential figures.
Yanez's career has been instrumental in fostering connections with her local community, non-profit organizations, and individuals dedicated to societal betterment. While her cultural background profoundly influences her work, it is the dedication and resilience of hardworking community members that truly inspires her artistic vision.
MUSICIAN:
Victor Valencia is a singer/songwriter. He's recorded 2 studio albums of original tunes and recently completed an EP of original music entitled “You Are My Song “ now available on digital platforms.
