The theme of friendship runs through this program: Franz Schubert composed his fiery Rondo for his self-taught violinist friend, Josef Slavík. In "Eeyore Has a Birthday," Jon Deak interweaves music and theater to explore the friendship between three of children's literature's most beloved characters. Finally, Virginia-based composer Jacob Barton has created for us a tribute to the New York City street musician, Viking of 6th Avenue, Louis "Moondog" Hardin. As usual, this concert will be opened by Around Hear’s friendly, all-ages violin & piano classes.
