The Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition hosts a monthly event to clean Memorial Highways located in our region.
Certain sections of Michigan highways are designated “Memorial Highways” to honor individuals or groups who have made significant impacts on the state or country. In our region, there are seven Memorial Highways honoring Service Members who lost their lives serving our country.
All events are held once a month on a Saturday morning. They run from April to October Depending on the highway and the number of volunteers, the project takes between two to four hours.
We try and include members of the family and as many organizations from the local community as possible.
In May, we will be cleaning Army Sergeant First Class Michael Cathcart Memorial Highway
The highway begins at the intersection of M-15 and Cass Avenue Road in Portsmouth Charter Township and extends north to the intersection of M-15 and Ridge Road in the city of Bay City
