Armature to Art: Sculpting Modular Characters
About this Event
In this hands-on workshop participants will begin with prefabricated 3D-printed joints and skeletal components to build an armature, and then use air-dry clay to sculpt a modular figurine. Artist Zach Blevins-Goad will lead participants through this process, sharing his knowledge of figurine building and human expression through sculptural form. Participants will be encouraged to further decorate their sculpture at the conclusion of the workshop with sequins and colorful accents.
While this program is designed for adults, children and teens are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This program is designed through creativity between the Institute for Creative, Arts, and Technology at Virginia Tech, the Expressions Lab at Amazon Arlington, and the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts.
