Arlo's Living Room Gallery: Alberto Godoy Opening Reception

We’re honored to exhibit ten select paintings by Alberto Godoy as part of Arlo’s Living Room Gallery series at Arlo Wynwood. Please join us on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30 to 8:30pm for an opening reception, cocktails, music and a conversation with the artist.

Born amid the turmoil of 1960s Cuba, Godoy carries into his work the indelible imprint of his Caribbean homeland. After fleeing the oppression of the Castro regime in 1980, he held fast to the vivid imagery of his country’s people, customs, and landscapes. His paintings channel the rhythms of everyday Cuban life, spanning themes from the indigenous and rural to the contemporary. Through these commonplace yet lyrical subjects, Godoy reveals their beauty with bold, vibrant, warm-hued, and richly evocative imagery.

The Arlo’s Living Room Gallery series was created by Jasmine Arakel with the mission to bring contemporary art into publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels. In partnership with Ori Gallery and for a limited time, we are thrilled to share these incredible paintings with the Arlo community.
