Legal Luminaries—Lighting the Path
The Arkansas Bar Association’s Legal Hall of Fame Question and Answer Series is a free event designed to give attendees an opportunity to interact with featured guests in an intimate setting. The featured guest this evening is the Honorable Joyce Williams Warren.
Judge Warren was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and raised in Little Rock. An Arkansas trailblazer, she was the first Black woman to graduate from UALR William H. Bowen School of Law and subsequently became the first Black female judge in the state of Arkansas. Her legal career has been marked by numerous achievements and a commitment to justice. Her legacy includes improving adoption laws, creating standards for attorneys representing children in child abuse and neglect cases, and helping to expand the new Arkansas juvenile justice system to better support children and families. Judge Warren has received many recognitions and awards for her legal contributions including selection as one of the "Top 100 Women in Arkansas," the "Outstanding Jurist Award," and induction into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame.
A reception will take place at 5:30 pm in the Arkansas Civics Education Center, located within the Justice Building. The event will commence at 6:00 pm with a question-and-answer session concluding the proceedings. Guests are invited to participate in the discussion. Parking is available in any lot on Marshall Street in front of the Justice Building.
