Arizona Glass Alliance, in cooperation with Milkweed Arts, will host an evening with internationally renowned glass sculptor Emma Varga at 7 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The event, free and open to the public, will be held at the Scottsdale Ranch Clubhouse, 10585 North 100th Street in Scottsdale, AZ. Write to [email protected] to reserve your spot. Born in Ada, formerly part of Yugoslavia, Varga emigrated to Australia in 1995, where she has established her residence and career. She employs her own multiple layer fusing technique to create uniquely beautiful sculptures that highlight her focus on the beauty and fragility of our natural environment.
“The walk among my small studio garden was once a joyful daily ritual, looking forward to being surrounded by the beauty of the native coastal flora,” said Varga. “However, the growing concerns for global warming and its effects on the natural world taint these experiences with a rising anxiety for the future of our environment. I do not aim to distill the natural devastation that is currently occurring but rather reinforce the notion of the fragility and vulnerability of our environment.”
