In addition to food and beverages available for purchase, and an amazingly fun atmosphere, there will be 4 bands to entertain you, as well as a silent auction and service dogs for you to meet. Understand that the venue, the bands, and all people involved in this event are volunteering their time in order to help raise money for Canine Companions/Argo's Heart. We sure hope to see you there!! :)
In honor of Argo, and the incredible, positive impact he had on Mary's life, we are participating in DogFest North Central. Our Argo was taken from the world way too soon after doing his best to battle cancer. He was so unique that no other service dog will ever be named Argo, when it is usually commonplace to re-use the dogs names being that there are so many. That there are so many is also a HUGE deal. Canine Companions is a non-profit with a mission to provide expertly trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge. (when service dogs generally are sold for up to $75,000!!)
As part of DogFest North Central (which is the September date you see on the donation page), we are also raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. The impact these dogs have on the lives of people with disabilities is incredible and priceless. In addition to helping so many with disabilities live easier, more fulfilling lives, they also have dogs that emotionally support abused adults and children in court when they need to testify and are afraid. Their owners could tell you never ending heart-warming stories. These animals and Canine Companions are such a blessing!
In addition to financial support, we are also in need of puppy raising volunteers, so please reach out if you have an interest in that. (they go to professional training at a certain point, but we need loving people to raise the puppies to the point where they are ready to train to help others) There is a long wait list for these amazing animals, so more puppy raisers will help us help so many people as well! Message us if you would like to learn more about how to become a puppy raiser for Canine Companions. You could end up raising the puppy that literally saves someone's life!
