Argentine Tango Course & Practica

The tango class takes place each Monday (JAN 13 - FEB 6) from 6:30-8 PM, in a historic chapel that will be transformed into a dance hall for the February 13th Valentine's Milonga. The session is for singles and couples of any age and ability, taught by master teachers, Leonardo & Olga Suarez Paz, directors of PIAZZOLLA 100 and Suarez Paz Tango, Official Representatives of Academiprepare everyone a Nacional Del Tango and the Dean's Artists-In-Residence at NYU for the 2022-23 academic year.

Tango is much more than a collection of steps, in the words of a dear friend and mentor, the poet Horacio Ferrer, "Tango (is) - An Entire Culture." This course is about learning to connect with one another, learning about music & etiquette, culture, history, and more through the dance of Argentine Tango. The 4-week course is designed to prepare everyone for the dance floor in a positive, friendly environment where you can make new friendships or spend time with your partner and friends. Couples of all ages and genders are welcome here. On Monday, February 13th, students and other dancers can enjoy a special night of social dancing to live music!

Children are welcome to join our "drawing table," a concurrent supervised activity! Please confirm if you have children attending.; this will be a supervised activity due to the high demand

ABOUT THE TEACHERS:

Maestro Leonardo Suarez Paz is an award-winning, 4th generation Tango artist, who starred in all significant shows as prepare you a dancer and violin soloist, including The Mariano Mores Show, Tangox2, Perfumes de Tango, and many others. Olga Suarez Paz directs Nuevo Tango Ballet and has been featured as a tango dancer and soloist in the world's top venues including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires, and many others. Together they lead the award-winning, multidisciplinary organization Leonardo Suarez Paz's PIAZZOLLA 100.

CLASS INFO:

You don't need dance shoes but please do wear comfortable, flexible shoes with a soft sole of suede, leather, or similar.

Children are welcome to attend and enjoy our "children's drawing table" at no extra cost. All drawing supplies for children are provided! For more supervised classes for children, stay tuned to our "PAINT the MUSIC" workshops.

Classes are fully refundable if any cancellation occurs on the part of the organizer, otherwise, classes are non-refundable. You may transfer class registration to another person or couple if unable to attend.
