Requirements: Must have taken Foundations have previous experience with Argentine Tango. Permission is required by Jennifer Jaymes.
Class Description: In Beyond Basics, we are putting the movement into practice. We’re using the tool of repertoire to dance tango in a unified, musical way. Beyond Basics continues to build upon the fundamental techniques learned in Foundations (technique of walk and embrace), furthering our understanding of phrasing and musicality, while empowering dancers to “link” or “build” tango phrases (figures) independently to make for a more dynamic dance.
You are highly encouraged to take Foundations and Beyond Basics in tandem, especially if you are coming to Jennifer's classes with previous experience with Argentine Tango but have not studied with her before. Beyond Basics takes crucial concepts from Foundations and builds on them in the second class. Even the most experienced dancer will find Foundational concepts necessary and interesting if they have not been through the series before.
Attire: Please bring dance shoes (if you are unsure what is an appropriate dance shoe, check out the FAQ page of worldembracetango.com).
