A guided tour of downtown Des Moines highlighting architecture and public art.Announcing a special edition of Architecture on the Move, co-presented with the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation!
Enjoy a stroll through the architecture of Des Moines’ East Village while taking in public art commissioned by the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation. Art highlights include A Monumental Journey by Kerry James Marshall and Expansion by Jun Kaneko. Architectural highlights include the Civic Center Historic District, City Beautiful Movement along the riverfront, the Riverwalk’s public buildings, the revitalization of the Dilley Building, and new projects such as 111 East Grand Avenue. Attendees will gain a new appreciation of the interplay between architecture and public art.
Specific tour ticket required; regular Architecture on the Move ticket not valid unless space is available when tours depart.
Sign-in starts at 5:00 PM in the atrium of Capital Square . Tours take off promptly at 5:30 PM. Comfortable shoes and clothing are suggested.
