Architecture on Bloor Reimagined

From landmark restorations to bold reinventions, see how Bloor Street’s architecture is adapting to a changing city.

On this walk from Queen’s Park to Mirvish Village, explore the evolving lives of buildings shaped by changing cultural, economic, and development pressures. Compare careful restorations with bold contemporary additions, and consider what is preserved (and what can be lost) when historic spaces take on new uses. 

Along the way, examine the contrasting architecture of the Royal Ontario Museum and the transformation of the Park Hyatt, and hear how the Brunswick House shifted from a beloved music venue to a retail space, and how the redevelopment of Mirvish Village balances housing, heritage, and community identity.

About the Tour Leader

Angela Jang is a recent graduate of the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Toronto, with academic and professional experience in architecture, planning, and urban design. She holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies specializing in Conservation and Sustainability and is passionate about uncovering overlooked stories embedded within the built environment. Her focus has been on master planning, public realm design, and heritage research where architecture, landscape, and art intersect. Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies, solving puzzles, and travelling whenever possible!

Start Point: Lillian Massey Building (125 Queens Park)

Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check-in. Feel free to call us at (647) 542-3450 if you are having trouble finding the start location.

End Point: Mirvish Village (Bloor St & Bathurst St)

Length of Tour: Approximately 90 minutes

Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 2.5 kilometres in distance and takes place predominantly on paved city sidewalks and streets.

Ticket Price and Registration: This tour is provided for $8.00/person. The total cost is $10.05 (includes a $2.05 transaction fee). Please note that space is limited on our tours. You may not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time. Cash cannot be accepted onsite.

This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
