Milton enjoys a rich heritage of historic homes and buildings, with 198
structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Milton Historical Society’s Architectural Walking Tour offers a lively overview of Milton’s history and a chance to view and learn about many of the architectural styles preserved in the homes, button sheds, barns and outbuildings in the historic area. Learning about the stylistic differences unlocks insights into the cultural and artistic traditions that have influence and shaped this charming town. This stroll through Milton is a fascinating way to appreciate the town’s long history and the people who influenced the development of the community.
Using Milton’s significant collection of historic buildings and the Broadkill River as a backdrop, this tour will introduce visitors to the rich history of the town.
Milton is a living document of historic architecture and design. The magnificent houses once owned by wealthy sea captains and merchants and the modest houses of ship carpenters, sailors and shop keepers serve to tell the story of day - to -day life in a bygone era. The tour will explore the town's economic, civic, religious, and neighborhood history.
The tour will begin Milton Historical Society at 10:00am, and will last approximately one hour.
