Love old buildings but don’t know a Queen Anne from a Dutch Colonial? In this class, the Landmark Society’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs) take students out onto the streets to explore Rochester’s architectural history in its natural setting. In this walking tour, traverse one of Rochester’s most impressive streets and learn the names of important architectural styles, basic architectural terminology, and how to approximately date the buildings we see every day.
Please note: This class is an active walking tour (approximately 1.5 to 2 miles on sidewalks and paved paths). Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes. If you’ve attended the Crash Course in American Architectural History classes, this is a great opportunity to put your new knowledge to the test out in the field; however, this class is also great for beginners.
