About this Event
This initiative brings together students from OCAD University and the University of Toronto, with support from the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA), to address shared concerns about the future of architecture and creative practice. Through open dialogue among students, scholars, and practitioners, it explores questions often overlooked in academia, such as designing in the real world and balancing creativity with codes and regulations. Responding to rapid change driven by technology, climate responsibility, and evolving practices, the event offers a forward-looking view toward 2030 while equipping students with practical insights to remain resilient and relevant.
The event features a panel discussion followed by a close-knitted networking session, examining how five forces: artificial intelligence, creativity and advocacy, accessibility and healthcare, sustainability, and building science/interdisciplinary practices, are shaping the practice and career prospects. Panelists representing each of these areas will engage in an open dialogue addressing the discipline’s future, followed by breakout groups where students and panelists can engage in small group discussions on navigating careers in the evolving field.
