Archetypes & Arcana: Tarot Study Group

The Tarot is a complex divinatory tool...that can easily be overwhelming. There are 78 cards, each one layered with meaning. And then there are reversals. And then card meanings can shift depending on the influence of other cards.

Part of the magic of Tarot is that different people interpret Tarot's many-layered meanings in slightly different ways, so talking with and learning from other Tarot practitioners is an excellent way to expand and deepen your understanding of the cards.

Join with fellow Tarot enthusiasts to delve into the cards with this monthly study group! Each month, we'll discuss four cards, slowly working our way through the entire deck. While we will focus on Rider-Waite-Smith style decks, we may reference Tarot de Marseille and Aleister Crowley Tarot systems from time to time.

In our first session, we will discuss five cards, all of which act as "starting points" within the Tarot. For September 2026, we will be covering:

• The Fool
• Ace of Wands
• Ace of Swords
• Ace of Cups
• Ace of Pentacles

At the end of each session, we'll select the four cards for the next session.

Group participation is highly encouraged for this study group. It's less of a class and more of a chance to explore the cards with people from different backgrounds and lived experiences.

Bring your Tarot journal (or other notebook) to take notes, and a Tarot deck of your choice. You'll likely want to reference your own cards while we discuss them, and we'll try a spread or two related to the cards we're looking at.

The study group will be facilitated by Megan, who has worked with Tarot on and off for about 20 years, but whose ADHD means she definitely does not have the entire deck memorized.

1. Where Faeries Live has moved! Our new address is 7933-104 Street. We’ve had issues with map/direction apps taking people to the old location, even if the address is listed correctly. We’ve found if you type in our new address instead of “Where Faeries Live” in the search box, you’ll get the correct directions. But if you wind up at the old location anyway, the good news is: we aren’t far away! If you find yourself at the old store, we are about half a block east and half a block north, next to Crave Cupcakes.
2. Tickets to this event are ONLY available through EventBrite. Anyone offering tickets via any other medium is trying to scam you.
3. Tickets are available on EventBrite through 11:59pm MST on Thursday, September 24th. Refunds are available through EventBrite up to seven days before the event. EventBrite fees are non-refundable.
