Arbes launch their long-awaited debut album 'Counterways' (out November 1 through Third Eye Stimuli (AUS) and Earth Libraries (US/EU/UK) at The Grace Darling with Glass & Roland.
$25 Pre-sales, $30 on door.

Counterways, exists on the cusp between the ethereal and the more attention-seeking concerns of pop. The record invites listeners into an unusual sonic world of atmospheric depth. Comparisons can be drawn to New York post-punk of a more colourful bent, running Blondie all the way through to Gang Gang Dance. The album's dream-pop dimension brings to mind Cocteau Twins, while its grittier, art-rock moments, coloured with ambience feels akin to Deerhunter. Glimmering flashes of psychedelia channels the likes of Melody's Echo Chamber.
Glass are Fin, George and Andrew. A forlorn type of jangle might be a good place to start (possibly end) with regards to what sound the trio make together. Ringing open strings, spidery left hand activity, a baritone voice and for now a drum machine may also help a conjuring some sort estimated tune in your head. Not abrasive nor easygoing, but something else.
Originally from the Northern Rivers, Roland has been an integral part of the Melbourne music scene since moving there in 2010. Over the years, Roland has crafted an eclectic catalogue of songs, characterised by rich imagery and emotion.
