To say we’re exited about this one would be a severe understatement...
A long-term shop favourite (and webman Ali's favourite band of all time) Scotland’s mighty Arab Strap are on the comeback trail – and we’re thrilled to be welcoming them to Reflex for a special instore in support of new album Half-Told Tales.
From 5pm (first show - sold out) and 6:30pm (second show - on sale now) on Monday 7th September, core duo Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton will treat us to an intimate instore performance, followed by a meet ‘n’ greet and signing session.
If you'd like to join us, simply pre-order Half-Told Tales from Reflex on any format to secure your entry wristband. The album is available on limited edition indies yellow 2LP, as well as standard black 2LP and CD formats. Scroll down for prices!
Formed in the mid-'90s in the small lowland town Falkirk, Arab Strap quickly gained notoriety due to the explicit nature of their lyrics and the characteristic brand of hedonism showcased on their classic debut single, The First Big Weekend.
Six magnificent albums - including such as fan favourites as Philophobia and Monday at the Hug & Pint - followed before they called it a day in 2006, after which both men pursued a series of acclaimed solo and collaborative projects.
A decade passed with few hints of a reunion – yet it was in Newcastle where fans’ long-held wishes came true, with a triumphant October 2016 comeback show at The Cluny that’ll live long in the memory.
Since then, Aidan and Malcolm have gone from strength to strength, delivering a pair of albums – As Days Get Dark (2021) and I'm totally fine with it 👍 don't give a fuck anymore 👍 (2024) – as good, if not better than anything from their ‘90s heyday.
If its pre-release singles are anything to go by, Half-Told Tales could yet go one better, with You You You, Fighting for You and Glamour Magick all, for my money, joining the ranks of instant Strap classics.
You’ll have to travel down to Stockton to catch their October album tour… but for a more intimate, stripped-back affair, look no further than our instore! The first show sold out within 48 hours, so if you'd like to come to the second you'd best not wait around!
