Dive into an underwater adventure, uncovering the hidden world of tiny aquatic creatures that hold the key to water quality. Equipped with nets and curiosity, campers will screen contents from a river, collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates. As they examine these fascinating critters, campers will unlock clues about the health of the river and its effect on humans. It’s an exciting mix of science, discovery, and hands-on fun that brings the mysteries of the river to life!
Guided Activities
- Sharpen their observation skills as they identify macroinvertebrates and their traits.
- Use magnifiers and microscopes to examine fascinating macroinvertebrate traits up close.
- Test the quality of our stream by examining its incredible living inhabitants.
- Discover how certain macroinvertebrates can tell us if a stream is thriving or struggling.
