Shamanism is humanity’s oldest form of relationship to Spirit. It is the ancient underpinning of all religion. But shamanism is NOT a religion. It is a complex set of practices, beliefs, values and behaviors that enable the shamanic practitioner to elicit a shift from ordinary consciousness into a trance state. The specific goal is to interact with the compassionate Spirits to gain help, for one's self or others, with spiritual healing, obtaining information, restoring power, removing negative energy, aiding the spirit of the deceased, soul retrieval or guidance for right action.
Core Shamanism consists of the universal, near-universal, and common features of shamanism, together with journeys to other worlds, a distinguishing feature of shamanism. As originated, researched, and developed by Michael Harner, the principles of core shamanism are not bound to any specific cultural group or perspective.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS:
March 7-8, 2026 Michael Harner’s Way of the Shaman®
During the Basic experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal, near-universal,or common basic methods of the shaman to enter nonordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Particular emphasis is on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream. Participants are initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and other techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities, including connections with Nature.
April 18-19 Shamanism Dying & Beyond®
Participants learn how to deal with the issue of dying and the destiny of souls from a shamanic perspective. The ancient, well-studied system of shamanism is not a religion. This aspect of shamanic training will prepare attendees to work with those in terminal situations or who have already passed on. This course is designed for experienced journeyers who have completed The FSS Basic Workshop, The Way of the Shaman®. One of the prerequisites required for the Power Soul Retrieval workshop.
June 13-14, 2026 Shamanic Extraction Healing
Participants are trained in the Extraction method of Shamanic healing to remove negative energy and restore personal power. This shamanic training will increase the attendees connection with their Spirit helpers to be able to see, sense and remove localized illness and pain connected to spiritual factors. Designed for experienced journeyers (have completed Way of the Shaman), this workshop is required before taking Power Soul Retrieval.
