Presenter:
Cindy Todd, LMFT-S
Hi, I’m Cindy, and I’m glad you’re here.
Life can be overwhelming, and at times, it brings hurts, frustrations, and feelings of helplessness that can feel impossible to navigate alone. But healing is possible, and I’m here to walk alongside you—not just to help you through the hard moments, but to support you in building a full, meaningful life.
As the Clinical Director at Genesis Behavioral Health and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT-S), I’ve been providing mental health care in Texas since 2011. I’ve worked with adults and families facing addiction, mental health challenges, crisis situations, leaders (doctors, CEOs), and relationship struggles in both family and company systems, always with the goal of helping people move beyond just managing symptoms—to truly thriving.
Through my own leadership journey and the study of the psychology of leaders, I’ve also become passionate about strengthening those who find themselves in charge. We know executives and managers often carry the weight of others’ expectations, try to help their teams achieve innovative, effective results, and juggle their own personal challenges throughout it all. Leadership can be isolating and takes grit. The good news? You don't have to navigate it alone and you can definitely build the kind of internal stability that withstands those stressors with joy. I help leaders achieve maximum results from their team efficiently and effectively so that they can obtain the highest value through growth and innovation.
Additionally, I believe in a holistic approach to healing and growth—one that considers mind, body, spirit, and relationships. For many, faith in God plays a vital role in that process, and if faith is important to you, I’m happy to incorporate it into our conversations as much or as little as you’d like.
But therapy isn’t just about working through pain—it’s also about rediscovering joy, connection, and purpose. My goal isn’t just to help you through the tough times; it’s to empower you to create a life that feels whole, fulfilling, and truly yours.
If you’re ready to take the next step, I’m here. Let’s work together to create a life that’s not just about healing, but about living life to the fullest.
— Cindy
Overview:
Is the idea of treating personality disorders for individuals daunting? And then treating personality disorders in relational dynamics? Even worse! Don’t worry, me too. Thankfully I’ve had some excellent supervisors, educators, and growing experiences that have helped make this not only manageable but easily tolerated. I hope to provide any and all education and insight to you so you can also feel confident in treating this population. In this presentation, we will explore what personality disorders look like in couple and family relationships and how trauma can be both a contributing factor and an outcome of these dynamics. The presentation will explore how the biggest impacts of personality disorders and trauma on family systems are the erosion of healthy relationships, increased conflict, and the potential for generational trauma. We will review specifically the borderline personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder relationship cycle including specific dynamics and case examples. Finally, we will review practical ways therapists can treat personality disorders including evidence-based treatment strategies and some key therapist-specific strategies to navigate this treatment confidently and without the overwhelm.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the biggest impact of trauma and personality disorders on a family system
- Understanding the BPD/NPD relationship cycle
- Learn practical treatment approaches and internal boundaries that will help clinicians feel confident and effective in treating personality disorders in relationships
