Apple Dumpling Day
About this Event
Celebrate a sweet slice of history at the Visitation Hotel’s Second Annual Apple Dumpling Day! This beloved tradition dates back to 1845, after the Sisters of the Visitation from Georgetown took over the school following a fire, the students were upset and staged what could be described as a "hunger strike." The nuns, seeking to connect with the students and restore morale, organized an impressive feast. The dessert—apple dumplings—was the most popular dish and helped to create a bond between the nuns and the students. This event cemented the apple dumpling as a significant part of the school's history and a major symbol of community.
Join us for a taste of our classic apple dumplings, live entertainment, family games, a community market and more. Apple-themed drinks available for purchase. Experience the warmth of history, the joy of community, and of course, the irresistible taste of apple dumplings!
