The Appin Entrepreneurship Award, supported by Damien O'Looney and Bing Li, two trailblazing entrepreneurs who met while studying Entrepreneurship and Marketing at Edinburgh Napier.

The Appin Entrepreneurship Award represents a sustained commitment by Edinburgh Napier to foster a culture of celebration and recognition for outstanding student and graduate entrepreneurs each year.

Award for Finalist

This year, our finalists will compete for the coveted cash prize of £2,000. Additionally, all participants will have the invaluable opportunity to receive personalised 1:1 business advice and support from Bright Red Triangle (BRT).

More about the award and the 2022 winner

This month we are delighted to sit down and chat with Alex Porter-Smith and Eathan Currie, the co-founders of High Tide, a film production agency that puts people and the planet first.

As creatives, Alex and Eathan aim to collaborate on impactful campaigns while using working practices that benefit both people and the environment. In this session, they will be sharing their entrepreneurial journey, their experience of starting a business together, working with a partner, working in the creative industry, and their focus on sustainability.

As Managing Director, Alex looks after clients and heads up new business, while Eathan, as Head of Creative, leads the creative team and films their work. They work with selected film crews of around five to ten people on each shoot, keeping their carbon footprint low, while staying flexible when working on ambitious projects.
