Join us for another Appalachian Music Series with Ricky Cox and Willard Gayheart. Participants are asked to bring their favorite dish to share for a potluck style lunch.
Ricky Cox grew up and now lives in Floyd County, Virginia. He worked in the machine tool industry in Montgomery County, VA, before earning a Master of Arts in English at Radford University, and afterward taught courses in English and Appalachian Studies at Radford University for over thirty years. He coedited A Handbook to Appalachia: An Introduction to the Region (2006), and, with the late Franklin F. Webb, coauthored The Water Powered Mills of Floyd County, Virginia: Illustrated Histories 1770-2010 (2012).
Willard Gayheart grew up in Eastern Kentucky and now lives near Galax, VA. He was a founding member of the Highlanders, Skeeter and the Skidmarks, and Alternate Routes, and with his son-in-law Scott Freeman does a weekly program at the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway, May through October. Willard is also widely known as a pencil artists and is the owner of Front Porch Gallery and frame shop in Woodlawn, VA.
The deadline to register is May 7th. The fee is $10.00 per person
