APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course

Description:  

This 2-day course is designed to provide nurses with the knowledge base needed to safely care for children and adolescents receiving chemotherapy or biotherapy. Nurses will learn both the theoretical knowledge and key principles needed to safely, competently, and consistently administer chemotherapy and biotherapy.

Upon successful completion of the course, post-test and evaluation, participants will receive an APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card. This card validates that the participant has completed the education and demonstrated the knowledge needed to administer chemotherapy and biotherapy agents to pediatric patients.

Note: Attendance is required for both days

Target Audience

Participants must be licensed registered nurses. This course content is appropriate for nurses who are new to pediatric and adolescent chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, as well as for those who want a comprehensive review.

Contact Hours

The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Participants will be awarded 13.75 CEs upon completion of the entire course, post-test and evaluation. We urge you to be aware of the continuing education requirements of your own state board of nursing, especially for those states in which CE is mandatory.

Active Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Providers are welcome to sit for the 2-day provider course as a refresher, however they will not be able to take the post exam or earn CEs. Active providers that wish to renew their provider status must wait until their renewal season is active. APHON is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP14513.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received by UCLA Health by June 21, 2021, will be refunded minus a $25 processing fee. Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to Grace Sund at [email protected] by 11:59 June 21, 2021.

UCLA Health reserves the right to cancel any event or presentation due to unforeseen circumstances.  It also has the right to substitute presenter if those originally scheduled are unable to attend.
