About Salice Salentino PDO

The name of this appellation comes from the town of the same name in the heart of Salento, north of Lecce in Puglia – a region known for its vineyards, olive groves, traditional masserie, and centuries-old watchtowers.

The protected designation of origin Salice Salentino was established in 1976, when local winemakers in this region were already producing red and rosé wines based on Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. Thanks to its unique terroir – sandy soils, gentle sea breezes, and optimal temperature variations – the wines here develop a distinctive character, rich in aromas, minerality, and elegance.

Salice Salentino represents not just a wine, but a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and connection to the land – rooted in a history that goes back to the ancient Greeks and Romans.
