APDA Workshops 2023

Welcome to the APDA Workshops!

We're presenting three different workshops the Tempe Mission Palms hotel on June 26 - 27, 2023:

Trial Advocacy - June 26 - 27 - Open to attorneys. This workshop offers attorneys a chance to practice their trial advocacy skills. On the first day, we present practical lectures. On the second day, we break up into small groups to practice jury selection, opening, cross, and closing using hypothetical cases. This workshop provides up to 14.5 hours of CLE.

Client-Centered Legal Writing - June 26 - 27 - Open to Attorneys, Mitigation Specialists and others who are working on a legal writing project and can bring their own case. This workshop offers a chance to hone their writing skills to be more direct, client-centered, and persuasive. Participants bring their own cases, brainstorm ideas, draft outlines of statements of fact and argument, and receive constructive feedback and encouragement. This workshop provides up to 12.5 hours of CLE.

Wellness - June 27 - Open to everyone. This workshop offers Wellness related classes on topics such as Digital Detoxing, Mindset and Ethics, and Mindfulness in the law .This workshop qualifies for 6 hours CLE and at least 1.5 hours of Ethics.

The conference hotel is Tempe Mission Palms, 60 E. 5th Street, Tempe, AZ 85281 Tel. 480-894-1400 Rooms fill up, so book before early. A limited number of rooms are available at the conference rate of $140.25/night (Room $103; Tax $14.49; Resort Fee $22.76)

Parking: Faculty and those staying at the hotel should use valet parking in front of the hotel lobby. Free parking is also available on the surface lots between the hotel and Mill Ave, both north and south of the train tracks. Everyone can park for free in the numbered spaces around the hotel perimeter on the hotel property; you will not need to pay at the kiosk. Please note that parking on Tempe streets is not an option as those meters will be enforced. The light rail is a convenient option with a station located right behind the Mission Palms. APDA cannot reimburse for parking in lots, garages, or at street meters.
