Lindsay Richards
BDS BScDent(Hons) PhD MRACDS(Prosth), FICD FADI FPFA GAICD
Lindsay Richards graduated from The University of Adelaide in 1977 and joined the academic staff in the Dental School in 1982 as a Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry. He was promoted to Professor in the School in 2003.
Among other things Lindsay is:
- a Specialist Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the International College of Prosthodontists
- he is a foundation member of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists and the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain
- and is Past President of the International Association for Dental Research (ANZ Division) and president of their international Prosthdontics Research Group.
- A elected Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy
- an honorary Life Member of the Australian Prosthodontic Society
- and, a past President of the Australian Dental Council
Over the years he has spent periods of study leave at Washington University in St Louis, Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Nihon University School of Dentistry at Matsudo, at Guy's Hospital in London and the University of the Arctic in Tromso, Norway.
He has been involved in:
- undergraduate teaching in prosthodontics and general practice,
- in postgraduate teaching as Director of the specialist prosthodontics program
- He has published more than 120 papers and book chapters based on his research involving tooth wear, restorative dentistry, dento-facial development in twins and indigenous oral health
- also, he served two terms as Dean of the Adelaide Dental School.
Lindsay retired from full-time work in 2019 but still works part-time in the Specialist Restorative Unit at the Adelaide Dental Hospital and in specialist private practice.
