anticheckbox pop up museum - Houston
About this Event
GRC has a culture problem. Welcome to the exhibit.
The Anti-Checkbox Tour is rolling into Houston for one night only. It is not a conference. It is not a vendor expo with stale pizza. It is a pop-up museum built to roast the worst parts of GRC and celebrate the engineers fixing it.
You walk through curated exhibits. You laugh, cringe, take photos, and end the night with drinks and the kind of conversations only happen when the room actually gets it.
The exhibits
- The Spreadsheet Graveyard. Risk registers framed like fine art.
- The Audit Room. Cold coffee, uncomfortable chairs, a button that requests additional evidence.
- Vendor Wall of Promises. SOC 2 in five minutes. AI does the audit. Every promise crossed out in red marker.
- Thought Leader Gallery. Humbled to announce, framed in gold. Oil on ego.
- Hall of Frameworks. SOC 2 looks tired. ISO is stern. CMMC is yelling. Find your framework spirit animal.
- The Evidence Locker. Dusty BCPs, USB drives labeled "the password spreadsheet," the receipts.
- Exit Through the Gift Shop. Anti-Checkbox merch, signed books, tour-exclusive drops.
Who this is for
GRC engineers, security engineers, compliance practitioners, auditors who know it could be better, vendors building the real thing, and anyone in Houston tired of pretending checkbox culture is working.
