Anti-zionist Jewish Writings

This pre-Hanukkah evening featuring authors of multiple new books will focus on the organizing methods, and the spiritual, political, and personal lives of anti-zionist Jews. Join us for conversations, learning, and community-building with these authors, hosted by the JVP-Philly Education & Culture, Ritual, and Membership Committees. We welcome members old, new, and curious; allies and comrades; and all who want to build power for the struggle together.

• 5PM: Doors open (kn95 masks required)
• 5:30-7PM: Program (kn95 masks required) - this section will be livestreamed
• 7:30-8:30PM: Light snacks from Manakeesh (masks optional)

Rebecca Vilkomerson was the Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace from 2009-2019. She is now the Co-Director of Funding Freedom, organizing within philanthropy.

Rabbi Alissa Wise is a community organizer, educator, organizational consultant, and ritual leader with over two decades of movement-building experience. She is currently the Lead Organizer of Rabbis for Ceasefire which she founded in October 2023.

Morgan Bassichis is a comedic performer who has been called “a tall child or, well, a big bird” by the Nation and “fiercely hilarious” by the New Yorker.

Jay Saper is an artist, translator, educator, and organizer who lives in Brooklyn, New York. They have taught Antifascist Yiddish for Beginners at Middlebury College and led walking tours on radical Jewish history for the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation.

Rachel Valinsky is a writer, editor, and translator based in New York. Rachel is co-founder and Artistic Director of Wendy’s Subway and Managing Editor at the Center for Art, Research and Alliances (CARA).
