In 2022 For the 13th year in a row, the highest amount of discrimination complaints raised with South Australia's Equal Opportunity Commission have been disability related. Of adults with disability, an estimated: 1 in 2 (47% or 2.7 million) have experienced violence after the age of 15, compared with 1 in 3 (36% or 4.5 million) without disability.

As part of the 'Safer City' series, Adelaide City Council and Purple Orange have partnered to deliver anti-ableism workshops, aiming to create a safer, more welcoming CBD environment for those who live with disability.

Inclusion is more than just the right thing to do. Improving access and inclusion opens new revenue stream opportunities and increases ease and safety for the broader community as a whole.

Learn from two people with lived experience of disability just how you can be a part of this anti-ableist movement.Facilitators Lauren Spear and Belle Owen have both personal and professional experience in the disability rights space.
