To celebrate UNCW Homecoming, we are bringing home two of our graduates who are emerging stars in academia! They will be giving short talks on their current research followed by a Q & A conversation about their time at UNCW, graduate school and fieldwork experiences, and their academic career paths. Dr. Didi El-Behaedi, Assistant Professor of Mediterranean Archaeology at University of Missouri, is an Egyptian Archaeologist, a National Geographic Explorer, and the director of the Memphis Kom el-Fakhry Archaeological Project (MKAP) in Egypt. She’ll be telling us about “Egypt’s First Capital: New Discoveries from Ancient Memphis”
Dr. Britt Florkiewicz, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Lyon College and the founder and director of Lyon’s Animal Behavior & Cognition Lab, is a primatologist and comparative and evolutionary psychologist. She’ll be telling us about her work on “Mammalian Facial Signaling Behaviors.”
There will be food, drinks, and socializing starting at 4:30 outside Morton 100. Their talks and conversation will start at 5:00 pm. All are welcome!
