As a bandleader, Anthony released his debut album, Chronicles (2014) with the Anthony Fung Quintet. He released his second album, Flashpoint in (2018) which received a “Best Albums of 2019 & 2020” 4-star review in Downbeat Magazine and a feature on WBGO’s “New Music by Five Composers behind the Drums.” What Does it Mean to be Free? in May 2022 and most recently “FO(U)RTH” which is set to release Sep 29th featuring master saxophonist Mark Turner.Anthony has also accumulated a number of awards which includes the following: The 2020 recipient of the Angel City Jazz Festival New Note Commission Award, composed a 30-minute piece inspired by Chinese Immigration in Los Angeles, The Jazz Foundation of America Grant, and the DCA Public Art Award in which his composition “Resilience” has been selected for an exhibition in a Curatorial Showcase in the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs’ (DCA).
