A two-day symposium on medical ethics, featuring Farr Curlin, MD and Chris Tollefsen, PhD, authors of The Way of Medicine.
About this Event

Join us for a two-day healthcare symposium addressing three foundational questions for all those in healthcare: What is healthcare? What is healthcare for? What does it mean to be a good healthcare professional?

Led by Farr Curlin, MD (Duke University) and Christopher Tollefsen, PhD (Philosophy, University of South Carolina), this symposium will offer healthcare students, faculty, and professionals an alternative vision of medicine that resists both the provider-of-services model and the reduction of the patient-practitioner relationship as one of mere economic exchange. Sessions will include topics about the purpose of healthcare, healthcare ethics, and the qualities of a good physician.

This symposium is brought to you by Anselm House, CMDA Twin Cities, and CMDA Rochester.

Dates: August 9-10

Location: Anselm House (720 Washington Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN. 55414)

Registration Fees: Registration includes the two receptions, dinner on August 9th, breakfast and lunch on August 10th, and a copy of (Curlin and Tollefsen).

UMN and Mayo Healthcare Students/Residents - $50

UMN and Mayo Healthcare Faculty/Staff - $150
